about
Penny Police has put several years of work into her second full-length album. She has not been busy proving anything, other than fulfilling her own ambitions. Now she is ready to share the result with us - the first single ‘Mirror, Mirror’ will be released June 14 on Celebration Records.
"It is a song that comes from working with acceptance and forgiveness. It's about not feeling noticed. We all need it, especially children. But it also reflects on realizing that there may be gaps between people, which we cannot necessarily close. Because we all have baggage in our lives that makes you not always see things eye to eye. Therefore I have had to practice and learn to move on relying solely on my gut feeling. To be able to look in the mirror and say to my inner child "it may be that you did not feel accepted or included, but now I fully see you", Marie explains.
'Mirror, Mirror' is created in close collaboration with producer Aske Bode, who has also produced for eg. Hymns from Nineveh.
lyrics
I enter the room
It's filled with you
You don't see,
my eyes or my feet
But you can't see
what you can't see
It seems so easy
to know how you feel
so easy
to picture what's real
But you can't see
what you can't see
You can't see
what you can't see
Mirror, mirror, on the wall
What are you trying to tell me
Mirror, mirror, this is your call
To let it all fall, let it all burn down
Let it all fall, let what you've learned down
I still find myself
the first one to blame
I still stay inside
on a sunny day
But you can't see
what you can't see
You can't see
what you can't see
I turned to you
That's what children do
I'm older now
Made it somehow
It's gonna be just fine
I'm gonna be right on time
It's gonna be just fine
I'm gonna be right on time

Penny Police is the alias of Copenhagen based singer and songwriter Marie Fjeldsted, who has impressed with her alternative
songwriting and her airy voice.
She has been compared to Agnes Obel and Emiliana Torrini but truly has found her own niche as Kieron Tyler from MOJO Magazine pointed out when he made her a highlight at SPOT Festival: "Penny Police is way ahead in the way she thinks music"....more
